1000 Southern Artery Management Team Shares Updates on Security and Capital Improvements

by Richard Ash

This past March, 1000 Southern Artery’s internal office and their management company, ARCO, held a Safety Meeting with the Quincy Police Department, Ward 2 City Council Candidate/former Ward 2 Civic Association President, Attorney Richard Ash, and their residents. The primary goal of the meeting was to address the ongoing safety concerns in the building and outline a road to rectify the same. The takeaway: implementation of a security camera system, a new key fob system, more police presence, and other miscellaneous capital updates.

“Representatives of 1000 and ARCO said these upgrades would take some time, which I think we all understood,” said Richard. “Of course we want these capital improvements done the right way.” This past week, residents were provided written updates on the plans.

Regarding the security camera system: the camera system, capacity and configuration have been selected and agreed upon. Representatives from ARCO report that they will be visiting the property in August to confirm the specific locations. A local contractor has been engaged to implement the key fob system. ARCO states that they are also working on a system with the non-residential members of the Senior Center (who pay a fee to attend their programming) to make sure there are no security problems letting them in the building for scheduled activities.

Further capital improvements include a re-sealing of the parking lots in the North, South and East buildings, taking place between August 7th and 25th. The schedule will be posted and distributed to residents, who may need to move their vehicles. There will also be five (5) new speed bumps, and a new fire lane, in front of the North Building with the hopes of minimizing excess/cut through travel. Finally, there has been approval for a new MBTA bus shelter and the companies are awaiting on an MBTA representative to assist in that endeavor. If residents have any further questions, they are encouraged to ask the office, or reach out to Richard at 617-201-6405.
